Take & Sons have created a cotton fabric with a classic pattern that has a wool–like appearance.This fabric is woven in the Bishuregion of Japan, one of the world’s three largest wool producing regions. Weaving cotton fabric in a wool fabric producing region creates a special texture. This area is still home to Schönherr–looms, which originated in Germany. It takes time to complete the weaving process, but the yarn is not subjected to tension, resulting in a rich, natural texture. In an age where efficiency is required, this goes against the flow, so naturally it costs more. Nowadays, these have become extremely valuable, and the only way to recreate the good old “authentic” weaving is to rely on the few antique looms that remain.
