Daiki Suzuki created Engineered Garments in NYC in 1999. We introduced the collection in our store in 2003 and have been stocking their beautifully constructed garments ever since. Daiki’s has a great respect for the past but a strong desire to create something relative for today. His design along with EG’s fantastic production produces a truly unique garment.
Navy 8W Corduroy Newsboy Cap
The Newsboy cap, also known as a flat cap or Gatsby cap, originated in late 19th– and early 20th–century Europe, particularly in the UK and Ireland. It became widely popular among working–class men and boys, especially newsboys, dockworkers, and tradesmen, hence the name. Its practicality, affordability, and sturdy construction made it a staple for everyday wear.
By the early 1900s, the cap had crossed the Atlantic and became common in the United States, often associated with urban youth and casual working attire. It was also embraced by middle– and upper–class men for leisure and country wear, making it a versatile piece across social classes.
Its rounded, multi–panel crown and stiff, short brim give a structured yet relaxed fit. Engineered Garments detailing and construction reflect the brand’s dedication to heritage–inspired design with modern wearability.
