Although established in 1979 by Shigeharu Tagakiand it wasn’t until 1986 that Studio D’Artisan created it’s iconic DO–1 Jean. Having worked previously in France, SDA takes it inspiration from a French perspective on Americana and through their own production always looking to push beyond the original. A vanguard product with the soul of Made in Japan.

Mid Grey Loopwheel Sweatshirt (D8188)

This sweatshirt was created in collaboration with a factory in Wakayama Prefecture—the only place in the world that still operates the historic “loopwheel machines” once used to knit vintage sweatshirts, preserving the quality of that bygone era for the present day.

Taking its time, the fabric is slowly knitted using these precious loopwheel machines. Suspended from the ceiling, the machinery and yarn rely purely on their own weight. By applying no excess tension to the fabric and knitting at a deliberate, slow pace, it feels as though air itself is woven into the fabric. The result is a uniquely textured material with a perfectly balanced, uneven vintage feel.

Postage within the UK is £10.00 and will be provided by DHL EXPRESS – a fully tracked next business day service. If we receive your order by 12.00pm Monday – Friday, we will get it to you next business day. If you order after 12.00pm on Friday then your order will leave on the following Monday.
